THOUGHTS: What is it that makes us prefer certain colors at certain times in our lives. I have found that I always have had the same favorite color for clothes that I wear, etc. But when it comes to using a particular color in my painting, that is an entirely different story. I seem to have a favorite color for a period of time and then it changes to a combination of colors or just a different single color. I seem to become rather obsessed by that color and just can’t seem to get enough of it. I can’t figure out what causes the change and move onto another color, but what strikes me as the greatest color ever can be simply of no interest a couple of months later and something else will have taken its place. THOUGHTS: Well, I got to be the fly on the wall with one of my Leaving Things to Find items. We have a patch of beautiful lush green irish moss that grows out from our gardens onto our sidewalk in front of our house and I have been leaving little items on the moss, but have not seen anyone get them. My studio and office takes the entire second floor of my home, which includes a secluded deck that I sometimes use to paint on. Well, I was out there painting yesterday and heard some children come by and sure enough they found the item. They were just tickled, even their mother was excited for them. It was a joy listening to them in their excitement over their found object even when they had gone more than a block away you could still hear their shrill excited voices. THOUGHTS: I wonder if you can think yourself taller. I was very short as a child and not really bothered by it. But, I always knew I would grow and be taller - I was just sure of it. Well, when I was 14, I was still very short - 4 feet 11 inches, but still believed I would be taller. But it wasn’t a great concern of mine either - I just knew I would be taller. Well, being a girl, at 16 you are done growing except for maybe a little bit and I was still under 5 feet. But, for some reason I began to grow when I was 16 and by the time I was 19 I finally finished growing and came in at 5 feet and 6 3/4 inches. THOUGHTS: My grandfather was a very quiet man. He had very little to say, but always had a smile on his face. One of the most endearing things about him was that fact that he always carried a jar of poppy seeds with him and would throw handfuls out of the car windows wherever we went and he would see a bare bit of earth. The funny thing is, that even today, some 30 years later, I still see wild poppies growing where he had thrown them. Beautiful reminders ~ Bonnie G. Morrow
