THOUGHTS: Sorry for missing yesterday’s post. I was all prepared to paint yesterday when my leg started hurting. So, I ended up spending the day off my feet and at the hospital. You see, I have a problem with my blood - it likes to clot just for the fun of it. Anyway, I have had a DVT (blood clots in my deep veins of my legs) and PE (clots in my lungs) and I was fortunate enough to live through it. I was told that if you were lucky enough to live through the first one, you probably won’t live through the second one. Well since that experience 6 years ago, I have had a second one and lived through it. Talk about lucky!! So, yesterday, when my leg started to hurt I got a bit scared and trying to be on the cautious side I kept still until they could get me in to check my veins. Right away he spotted clots and I just kept hoping and praying I would make it to 2007 or, after awhile, just make it to the next day. When he found more clots further down my leg, I was hoping to make it out of the hospital alive....well, you know, at that point you hope to take your next breath. Well upon further investigation and an hour and a half later he thought the clots he found may have been older ones and not new ones. YaaHoo!! The best gift I have ever gotten. He kept apologizing for the scare and the amount of time he took and I just couldn’t get the grin off my face.... no apologies necessary... You have one happy customer here! So, I am here! I can paint some more and I couldn’t be happier. In tribute to that I painted this painting “To Morrow” not only that I lived until tomorrow but a gift that Morrow (myself) lived to paint another day!

THOUGHTS: I hope all of you had very Happy Holidays! I had a wonderful time with family and friends. It was a very warm and loving holiday for us. I am excited to be back at work. We were so busy for two days that I couldn’t do any painting and it is kind of like not being able to get any sleep. It is such an important part of my life and it just feels very odd not to have it in my daily routine.

THOUGHTS: Today is one of my favorite days of the year. In the evenings when I am relaxing, I knit scarves all year long. Then one day every year before Christmas I take all of the scarves and head downtown with any of my daughters that wish to come and we give them to all of the folks on the street. It makes for such a pretty day in town with all of these people wearing brightly colored scarves. So, today is the day and I am excited to get started and see how it all looks once they are all handed out. Happy Holidays all!

“WHEN THE DEAL GOES DOWN” Oil Painting Abstract Geometric BG Morrow stretched canvas Earth tones

Bonnie G. Morrow, aka Ambrosia Arts, Oil and Acrylic Paintings, Fine Art Abstract original Contemporary modern paintings on canvas

Part of my Bob Dylan inspired paintings. I listen to Bob Dylan while painting these and you can see his influence come out in the coloring and texture. This painting is painted on stretched heavy cotton duck canvas. The canvas has been layered with many coats of primer and grounds to produce a stressed leather like appearance. The oil painting is then painted with multiple layers of paints and glazes to create great depth on top of this surface. It gives the piece a very dramatic and unusual look, as if the painting was painted upon actual leather and shows great depth.

THOUGHTS: There is a holly tree down the block from our house. Every year I have noticed the birds do not eat the berries until February. This year the birds have almost eaten all of the berries and it is mid December. I wonder what this means.... Is it an indication of the weather to come? Is it an indication of the weather we have had and the berries were ready sooner? Or, are the birds just overeating this year?

THOUGHTS: I Don’t know what is going on, but I had another very interesting dream. I know everyone dreams, but I am one of those people who very rarely remembers dreaming and this week I have had 2 dreams that I remember....odd for me. Anyway, I was at home and there were all kinds of people in and out of our home, friends and such. Everyone seemed happy and like everything was normal. I seemed to be the only person there that realized I had no shirt on. So, I tried to act normal since no one seemed to think it was odd except me, but I must tell you, I felt so strange and out of place. I didn’t know where to put my arms or hands. Very strange dream......

THOUGHTS: I had the strangest dream last night and I have no clue what it means. I was somewhere where it was wet and muddy and we had just finished a picnic. I was trying to get everyone (I have no clue who all of these people were) to help and carry all of this stuff (suitcases and boxes) down to the car so we could catch the ferry. I so wanted to go home that it hurt, but no one seemed to be interested in helping. They were all laughing and doing their own thing. We were all wet and muddy and no one seemed to care. So it was just me and someone else (not sure who that was) packing everything down through all of the mud to the car. I could see this long line of traffic and I was beginning to panic, as I was afraid we wouldn’t make the 4:30 ferry and the next one wasn’t until 7:30. Finally someone asked me what time it was (up until that point I hadn’t thought about looking at my watch) and I noticed it was 4:29 and my heart sank, as I knew there was no way we could make the ferry and I wanted home so bad. I woke up at that point totally depressed and anxious, but happy to find myself home.

THOUGHTS: Well, I was all set for a long night watching the wind. It was exciting, but luckily the winds did not reach the predicted strength. As it was trees were toppling like dominoes and roads, bridges and highways were shut down because of the steady stream of trees falling. About midnight our power company quit responding to calls unless it was life threatening, as it was too dangerous for them to be out in the weather. Another lucky trend was that the hardest part of the storm did not last as long as predicted thus sparing a lot more damage. In our area the high winds pretty much died down by 1:30 with just a few random high gusts through the night. They had predicted the strength of the storm to run on through 4:00 a.m, but it didn’t around here. There are a lot of folks without power still, but the majority of highly populated areas should be back up and running by the end of the day. The less populated areas will take several days to get their power back. Our storms are very exciting, but generally not very harmful as long as one stays indoors. I am sorry to say that this storm cost 3 people their lives in western Washington. I send my condolences to their families. I find the power of wind fascinating. Have you ever tried to make a branch move by blowing on it, not easy to do - not to mention to topple a 100 foot tree by blowing on it. The power of mother nature is incredible.

THOUGHTS: We are gearing up for quite a windstorm that is supposed to hit late today with gusts up to 90 mph. It should be rather thrilling - I do have a thing for the wind, as long as no one gets hurt. I love a good windstorm and this should be one. I plan on staying up all night to enjoy the sounds of the wind. So, I plan on taking a nap in a little bit so I can stay awake. It should be a real thrill!

THOUGHTS: I guess I should introduce you to my best friend. His name is Rudy and he is my constant companion. He is a Bichon Frise and a true character. My daughter and husband bought him for me when my daughter was going off to college. This was to help me not be so lonesome. Well, it worked and he accompanies me most everywhere. He also lets me know when I have worked too late. He has a great sense of time and when I have passed my usual working hours, which is very easy for me to do, he quietly lets me know with a constant soft growl until I turn the lights off in the studio for the evening. He is very patient with me and the amount of time I spend painting. I love my Rudy and he is my true companion.

Bonnie G. Morrow, aka Ambrosia Arts, Oil and Acrylic Paintings, Fine Art Abstract original Contemporary modern paintings on canvas

THOUGHTS: When I was younger every little slight towards me bothered me deeply and I remembered it and never let it go. Now that I have gotten older, I have realized the true worth of a person and it is not at all affected by all of the little things that bugged me at one time. It is in the true love that we have come to know and cherish above all else. Once you reach the true love stage, it is easy to forget all of the little transgressions we are all guilty of and love the person and the relationship for what it is. There is nothing greater on this earth than true love. Once you have mastered it with your personal relationships then you can offer it to all mankind. Accept everyone for who they are - bumps and all, as we are all here learning to love entirely and without judgement.

THOUGHTS: Why is it when you have something you have to do and really don’t want to do, you can always find so many things that you should do instead of what you have to do. Sometimes I find myself cleaning my studio (one of my least favorite jobs) just to avoid working on commission pieces. I so hate doing commission works. It is just so difficult to paint something that isn’t coming direct from my soul at the time I am painting it. I would rather go into my studio, turn the music up loud and just let what happens naturally to happen - now that is bliss!

THOUGHTS: Sometimes I get very lonesome for my memory. I can remember, and it wasn’t all that long ago, that I had the best memory. In fact, it was nearly flawless. Now I find that I must make lists and then remember where I put the list and to take it with me. It has to be written on a sticky notepad so I can stick it to my finger so I won’t put it down and forget about it between my home and the store. I think the biggest problem is that my brain is overloaded with insignificant bits of trivia and the hard drive is full. There should be a shop that you can go into that cleans your brain out of bits of trivia and frees up more hard drive for one to use as you get older. Either that or create extra memory chips that we can plug in so it will run fast once again.
